Terms of Service
Effective date: July 21, 2026
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service apply to inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, estimates, parts orders, and other automotive services provided by Bro's Mechanic Shop.
By requesting service, approving an estimate, supplying parts, paying a prepayment, or authorizing work, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.
You must be the vehicle owner or have authority from the owner to approve the requested work.
2. Mobile Service Only
Bro's Mechanic Shop operates as a mobile automotive service and does not operate a public repair facility.
Work may only be performed where a safe, level, legal, and reasonably accessible private working area is available. Suitable locations may include a private driveway or another private property where the customer has permission for automotive work.
Work cannot be performed on public roads, unsafe surfaces, or in most public parking lots and parkades. Property rules, strata rules, landlord restrictions, weather, lighting, vehicle condition, and available working space may affect whether service can proceed.
3. Customer Responsibilities
The customer is responsible for:
- Providing accurate contact, vehicle, location, and concern information
- Confirming the vehicle's year, make, model, engine, licence plate, or VIN when requested
- Ensuring permission is available to perform automotive work at the service location
- Providing safe and reasonable access to the vehicle at the scheduled time
- Removing personal belongings that may interfere with the work
- Disclosing known modifications, previous repairs, damaged components, locking wheel keys, security systems, or other relevant conditions
- Keeping children, pets, and other persons away from the working area
Additional charges may apply when inaccurate or incomplete information results in extra travel, diagnostic time, labour, or incorrect parts being ordered.
4. Estimates and Authorization
Estimates are based on the information available at the time they are prepared. Unless expressly stated otherwise, an estimate is not a guaranteed final price.
The final cost may change when inspection or disassembly reveals additional damage, seized or broken components, corrosion, previous incorrect repairs, modified systems, inaccessible parts, incorrect vehicle information, or other conditions that could not reasonably be identified beforehand.
Additional work will not normally be performed without customer authorization. Authorization may be provided electronically, by email, text message, telephone, estimate approval, or another agreed communication method.
Customers are encouraged to review the repair details and estimated costs before authorizing work and to request approval before any additional work is performed.
5. Diagnostic and Inspection Services
Diagnostic and inspection fees compensate for the technician's travel, time, testing, equipment, knowledge, research, and findings. Payment is due even when:
- The concern is intermittent or cannot be duplicated
- No fault is found during the appointment
- Further testing or disassembly is recommended
- The customer decides not to proceed with repairs
- The vehicle requires a repair facility, dealership, programming, or specialized equipment
A diagnostic result reflects the vehicle's condition and information available at the time of testing. It does not guarantee that another fault will not exist or appear later.
6. Hidden Damage and Additional Work
Automotive repair may reveal hidden damage or conditions that could not be confirmed before disassembly. Examples include stripped threads, seized fasteners, broken connectors, damaged wiring, corrosion, fluid contamination, previous repairs, and related component failures.
When additional work is required, the customer may be given a revised estimate or recommendation. If the customer declines the additional work, the vehicle may remain incomplete, disabled, or unsafe, and charges will still apply for work already performed.
7. Parts Supplied by Bro's Mechanic Shop
Parts may be selected based on vehicle information, availability, quality, price, supplier information, and the customer's approved estimate.
New, remanufactured, original-equipment, or aftermarket parts may be used as described in the estimate or discussed with the customer.
Special-order parts may require partial or full prepayment. Ordered parts may be subject to supplier cancellation, return, shipping, handling, or restocking restrictions.
Parts warranty matters are governed by the separate Warranty Policy.
8. Customer-Supplied Parts
Customer-supplied parts may be accepted for certain repairs at Bro's Mechanic Shop's discretion.
The customer is responsible for confirming that supplied parts are correct, complete, undamaged, and suitable for the vehicle. Bro's Mechanic Shop does not provide a parts warranty for customer-supplied parts.
Labour, travel, diagnostic time, fluids, and other costs remain payable if a customer-supplied part is incorrect, defective, incomplete, fails during installation, or requires removal or replacement.
Bro's Mechanic Shop may refuse to install a supplied part when its quality, condition, design, legality, compatibility, or safety is uncertain.
9. Repairs Requiring Shop Equipment
Some services cannot be safely or properly completed as mobile work. This may include repairs requiring a hoist, wheel alignment, welding, tire equipment, air-conditioning refrigerant recovery, advanced programming, machining, exhaust fabrication, or other specialized equipment.
When mobile completion is not appropriate, the customer may be advised to use a qualified repair facility, specialty shop, or dealership. Diagnostic, inspection, travel, or labour charges already incurred remain payable.
10. Appointment Timing and Delays
Appointment times are estimates and may be affected by traffic, weather, parts availability, previous appointments, unexpected repair conditions, emergencies, or other circumstances.
Bro's Mechanic Shop will make reasonable efforts to notify the customer of significant delays but does not guarantee an exact arrival or completion time unless expressly agreed in writing.
11. Cancellations and Prepayments
Appointment cancellations, missed appointments, parts prepayments, travel charges, and refund eligibility are governed by the separate Cancellation and Prepayment Policy.
12. Payment
Payment is due when the service is completed, when an invoice is issued, or at another time specified in the estimate or appointment agreement.
Accepted payment methods may include e-transfer and credit card. Prepayment may be required for parts, remote appointments, or appointments where the customer will not be present.
The customer is responsible for applicable taxes and all approved labour, diagnostic, travel, parts, materials, fluids, disposal, shipping, and related charges.
13. Vehicle Operation and Test Drives
The customer authorizes Bro's Mechanic Shop to start, move, operate, scan, lift, and test-drive the vehicle when reasonably required to inspect, diagnose, verify, or complete the authorized service.
A test drive may not be possible because of vehicle condition, insurance, road conditions, blocked access, safety concerns, or customer restrictions. When a test drive cannot be completed, some findings or repair verification may be limited.
14. Unsafe Vehicles and Declined Repairs
Bro's Mechanic Shop may stop or refuse work when the vehicle, location, requested procedure, supplied part, customer conduct, or surrounding conditions create a safety, legal, or professional concern.
If an unsafe condition is identified, the customer may be advised not to drive the vehicle and to arrange towing or further repair. The customer remains responsible for decisions made after receiving that recommendation.
Declining recommended work may leave the vehicle unreliable, incomplete, or unsafe.
15. Personal Property
Customers should remove money, valuables, documents, tools, and unnecessary personal items before service.
Bro's Mechanic Shop is not responsible for ordinary loss or damage to unsecured personal property that was not disclosed and specifically entrusted for safekeeping, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
16. Photographs and Service Records
Photographs, videos, scan results, measurements, estimates, messages, and repair notes may be created and retained for diagnosis, documentation, customer communication, invoicing, warranty claims, insurance, training, and business-record purposes.
Personally identifying photographs or vehicle information will not be used for public marketing without consent or reasonable steps to remove identifying details.
Personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy. British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act applies to private-sector organizations that collect, use, and disclose personal information in the province.
17. No Guarantee of Future Vehicle Condition
Inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, or repair addresses the conditions identified and authorized at the time of service. It does not guarantee that the vehicle is free from every defect or that unrelated components will not fail later.
Vehicle age, mileage, corrosion, prior repairs, modifications, maintenance history, driving conditions, and unrelated component failures may affect reliability after service.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Bro's Mechanic Shop will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of use, missed work, alternate transportation, towing, storage, accommodation, or lost income.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right, remedy, or liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
19. Website Information
Website content is provided for general information and may be changed without notice. Website descriptions, examples, and pricing do not replace a vehicle-specific inspection or approved estimate.
Availability, parts prices, labour requirements, service areas, and appointment times may change.
20. Fair and Lawful Business Practices
These terms are intended to operate consistently with applicable consumer-protection laws. British Columbia law prohibits deceptive acts or practices in consumer transactions.
Where any part of these terms conflicts with a mandatory legal requirement, the legal requirement will apply.
21. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada.
22. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
23. Changes to These Terms
These Terms of Service may be updated when business practices, services, technology, or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted on this page with its effective date.
